Installation
The DATAHUB system requires the installation of both hardware and software. A dedicated file server is required to hold the database and the DATAHUB user interface needs to be installed on all the computers that will be using the system.
Hardware: The DATAHUB system requires a dedicated file server connected to a Fast Ethernet Network (10/100Mpbs) as well as the interface computers. When you purchase the DATAHUB system, there will be a one off charge for installing the required hardware and setting up the network infrastructure accordingly. We will check your existing hardware to see if it can be used within the DATAHUB system and advise to what hardware will need to be purchased if required. The DATAHUB system is compatable with barcode readers and other peripheral devices, these can be purchased as part of the system or added on at a later date.
Software: The DATAHUB system requires software to be installed on every computer using the system. This software consists of the DATAHUB user interface as well as the supporting components, such as spellcheckers and database manipulation tools. The DATAHUB system is currently designed to work on Microsoft Windows XP, but it has been installed on Microsoft Windows Vista and Windows 7 without any known problems. All software installed is checked by virus programs to make sure they are clean from malicious code.
Data Transfer:
If your company has archived data from an existing/old system, it may be able to be imported into the DATAHUB system depending on how the data was structured and in what format it was stored in. Data transfer is charged at an hourly rate and depending on the amount of data held, may take a considerable amount of time. You may chose to only copy across a section of your archived data, or only specific fields, thus speeding up the process.
